Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Students are evacuated from Ithaca High School after a bomb scare Thursday afternoon.
But after hours of investigating, police are now looking for the person behind what they are calling a prank at the expense of taxpayers.
Police were called to the K building on the Ithaca High School campus just after 1:05 p.m.
According to investigators, a suspicious looking electronic device was found in a hallway near a row of lockers..
The scene was cleared just before 5:30 p.m. after the Endicott Bomb Squad found that it was not an explosive device.
Police said the prank tied up emergency responders all afternoon and cost taxpayers thousands of dollars.
Police believe an Ithaca High School student is to blame as they continue their investigation.
