Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) With kids turning to technology at very young ages now, the Discovery Center took time to focus on old-school entertainment that will never go out of style.

The center teamed up with the Four County Library System to hold a day full of activities centered around reading.

The goal was to show kids that literacy is the foundation for knowledge.

"I think it's a great turnout," Starr Latronica, Four County Library System, said. "As you can see by all the crazy mayhem going on around us, everybody is having a great time."

Most of the activities were hands-on to encourage engagement.

For example, kids could make their own mini-books.

A featured author also came to read a book and sign copies.

This is the tenth year the event has been held. Latronica said between 400 and 700 people come every year.
