Brooklyn teen indicted in Binghamton assault

Binghamton (WBNG Binghamton) The Broome County Grand Jury handed up an indictment against a Brooklyn teen in connection with a June shooting.

The grand jury charged Dajhoun Perez, 17, with first-degree attempted assault, second-degree assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Binghamton police accused Perez of shooting Daquan Smith, 21, of Binghamton, in the leg after a June 12 dispute on Roberts Street.

Perez was originally charged with attempted murder.

The indictment says Perez attempted to cause serious physical injury in the assault.

He also faces additional charges related to weapons possession.
