Town of Dickinson (WBNG BInghamton) The homeland security department at SUNY Broome is ensuring a happy holiday season for those serving over seas.

During the past few weeks they've been collecting items across campus to send to members of the military out of the country.

Kyle Cunningham is a SUNY Broome student, who is also a veteran of two tours in Iraq.

He knows first hand what it is like to be away from home during the holidays.

"Especially during the holiday season its good to see the student body and the faculty coming together to ship things out. It really makes a difference especially when you get it from some place you can recognize as home," said Cunningham.

All the donations were taken to the Vestal Elks club this afternoon.

From there they will be sent over seas, reaching the members of the military by Christmas.
