Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Twin Tiers will soon bloom with outdoor markets featuring the freshest in local produce.

Some of them are already springing to life.

Farmers market season kicked off Tuesday at Highland Park in the town of Union.

Decadent desserts, homemade maple syrup and honey, as well as farm fresh eggs, chicken and ham lined the upper parking lot from 4-7 p.m.

Cheryl Poynerr, an Endicott farmer, says it's important to buy from the area in which you live.

"Support local farmers, eating healthy, no antibiotics or hormones in your products. Without farmers you don't have food," she said.
