Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An evening of music and comedy at Remlik's raised money for the Red Cross through the Heroes Campaign.

Heroes is a grassroots campaign that supports pledges by businesses and organizations to raise at least $1,000.

The money stays local and helps support programs like disaster relief, fire assistance, CPR classes and more.

"Every day of the week, year round, we are out there providing services for the community," said Shelley Bierwiler, local Red Cross chapter executive. "Whether it's a single family fire that we respond to, where we make sure people have food, clothing, shelter or emotional support, or if we're out there teaching people about preparedness, doing blood drives."

This marked a first year for Cabaret for a Cause. The event was organized by an American Red Cross volunteer.
