Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton University said goodbye and good luck to this year's graduating class.

Saturday morning marked the halfway point for Binghamton University's Spring 2014 Graduation Commencement Ceremonies.

Hundreds of students threw their hats in the air and took a moment to celebrate their major academic achievements.

Most students described the day as exciting, but nerve-racking.

"I'm just nervous about getting into the so-called real world," said Akua Boakye-Yiadom, who is graduating with a degree in Human Development.

In the spirit of graduation, many parents and professor were in attendance to offer a few words of encouragement and advice.

"They should not get discouraged if they do not get a job immediately and they should hold out for a job they really want," said Vicky Rizzo, the Chair of BU's Department of Social Work.

Some students decorated their caps to express their own words of encouragement.

Students from four different schools and colleges in BU graduated Saturday.

There will be three more graduation ceremonies on Sunday.
