Town of Chenango, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A car hits another on Route 12 and then runs into the front of a house.
The driver, a Binghamton man, is charged for the crash.
At about 8:20 a.m., members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a car into a house on Route 12 near Brook Avenue.
A Chenango Forks school bus had stopped in the northbound lane of Route 12 to pick up a group of children. A red Pick-up truck traveling south came up on the bus and stopped to wait for it. A second vehicle, a black Audi, was southbound on Route 12 at what witnesses described as a “very high rate of speed.”
The Audi struck and then glanced off the rear of the pick-up, slid across the northbound lane in front of the loaded school bus, and then ran into the front of the residence at 1514 Route 12.
The driver of the Audi, Anthony Tillman, 32, of Binghamton, was charged with reckless driving, a misdeamnor and speed not reasonable or prudent and following too closely. Both are violations.
A 34 year old female passenger of Tillman’s car was taken to Wilson Hospital. The driver of the pick-up, James Thomas, 66, of Chenango Forks, complained of minor pain. None of the injuries are believed to be serious.
Traffic was restricted to two lanes for about an hour while fire, ambulance and towing companies cleaned up the scene. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Tillman was released on his tickets to return to Chenango Town Court at a later date.
