Car Strikes And Kills Pedestrian

Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) - An 83-year-old Ithaca man is dead after being hit by a car while crossing the street.

Ithaca Police say it happened Wednesday morning around 8:30.

Cornelius Ryan was using the cross walk on the east side of South Street in Ithaca.

That's when he was hit by a car turning left off South Meadow Street.

The car was being driven by 26-year-old Ashlie Riley of Mecklenburg, who was ticketed for failure to use due care.

Ryan was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital where died Thursday as a result of his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
