Car accident in the Town of Kirkwood

Kirkwood, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A car crash in the town of Kirkwood involving a father and son drew multiple emergency crews to the scene.

The crash happened just after 3 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Colesville and Badger roads.

According to New York State Police, a father and his 18-year-old son were traveling south on Colesville Rd.

Police said the father, the driver, somehow lost control of the SUV.

The SUV hit a few trees and then went into an embankment.

Both the father and the son needed assistance getting out.

Police said the son was transported to a nearby hospital, but that there are no serious injures for either of the victims.

The car was heavily damaged.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, Five Mile Point Fire Department, and Broome and Superior ambulances were among the agencies that responded.
