Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A local college raises money for the son of a lost student.

Broome Community College held a Spring Carnival on Sunday to help five-year-old Donovan Lima.

Donovan's mother, Noel Pike, was a student at BCC who passed away in a fatal accident. In January, her car collided with a tractor trailer on I-88 near Exit 7 in Afton.

Ticket sales, money raised from raffles and other donations will all go toward a college fund for Donovan.

Aside from being a fundraiser for a good cause, the carnival was also a chance for families to have fun.

"A lot of people really like the bounce houses and the games that we had going on in the gym. I know a lot of people really like the face painting that we had, too, so it was really fun," said coordinator and B.C.C. student, Amberlee Weyant.

Weyant estimated more than 300 people attended the event.

Raffles will continue to be available until Friday, April 26.
