Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A local parish celebrates its heritage.

Saint Michael's Church held its annual Carpathian Festival Sunday afternoon.

Attendees were treated to traditional food, songs and dances as well as games and raffles.

The event is one of the church's biggest fundraisers of the year, but organizers say the emphasis on family and community is what really makes the day special.

The family day chairperson, Dena Lobacz said, "Our whole parish family, of course, comes out and supports it and makes halubki the week before and I think it's kind of a reunion for some people who are maybe out of town, come back and reconnect with old family and friends."

On the menu, was pirohi, holubki, goulash, and baked delicacies.

The event was a great success, with a packed hall the entire day and organizers thank all the volunteers for their time and service.
