Town of Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton University students are celebrating an early Hanukkah this year by raising thousands of dollars worth of toys.

This evening, the Chabad Center for Jewish Student Life at BU held its annual pre-Hanukkah bash.

It's the second year they've collected toys for the Chai Lifeline.

This year they raised $8,000 worth.

They packaged them up in this Dreidel and will deliver them to children who have cancer and are living in hospitals.

"I just hope that when one of these kids opens these toys, they have hope, and they say someone else is thinking about me and I'm going to have fun with this toy and make something out of every day," said Gabriella Zur from Chabad.

The toys were collected through a month-long toy drive held by Chabad and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigma Delta Tau groups.

The Pre-Hanukkah Bash featured music, holiday themed refreshments and a special appearance by the Crosbys, Binghamton's pre-eminent a cappella group.
