Maine, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The annual Oktoberfest celebration brought people from all over the Southern Tier to the town of Maine tor food, games, and beer on tap.

The 36th annual Oktoberfest at Most Holy Rosary Church kicked off this weekend.

Traditional food like halupki and pierohi filled stomachs, while Capt. Salty C. Dog entertained kids with games and toys.

The annual event is a staple in the fall for the community.

"I've been coming here since 1963, so I grew up during Oktoberfest," said Chairperson of Oktoberfest, Karen Taylor. "It's a homecoming for a lot of us."

This fest is the main fundraiser for the church.

All the funds from Oktoberfest will go toward maintaining the church for the next year.
