Coopertown, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Changes may be coming to the Bassett Medical Center.

Officials from Bassett said the facility has proposed to close its inpatient psychiatry services.

The proposal is due to a shortage of mental health providers.

Bassett wants to expand its outpatient mental health services across the eight counties that it serves.

Officials said nothing is final at this point, and have responded to the state's request for additional details.

Officials also said that its Psychiatric Crisis Center will transfer to a Mobile Crisis Assessment Team, or MCAT, in June.
