Town of Chenango, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) The Chenango Forks School District gives the all clear after a scare caused the campus to be locked down on Friday.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office placed the school on lockdown for about half an hour after students thought they saw a suspicious person at the backdoor of the elementary school.

Officials reviewed security tapes and recognized the suspicious person, who was actually a teacher.

Superintendent Joe Peck said the lockdown threat was innocent, but the school would rather err on the side of caution.

He said the students who reported the suspicious person did the right thing.
