(WBNG Binghamton) The sentencing of a Town of Dickinson man who admitted to putting a toddler in extremely hot water is upheld.

Christopher Chisholm was sentenced to four years in prison in June 2011 after he pleaded guilty to assault in the second degree.

Chisholm appealed, saying his sentence was too harsh and excessive.

The New York Supreme Court of Appeals upheld his sentencing, saying Chisholm grievously injured a young child and received an agreed-upon sentence that was well within the permissible range.

Chisholm admitted that in February 2011, he intentionally injured a toddler he was babysitting when he placed the child in a tub of scalding hot water.
