Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Coats for Kids has given out more than 1,000 coats with hundreds more still available.

The coats go to local children in need.

"As a child, it prevents you from being healthy and happy and it's an important necessity," said Kelly Weiss of the Family Enrichment Network. "It's tremendous for us to give them and we hope next year that we can work with some agencies and make this bigger and provide more coats for more kids."

Weiss said more than two times the people are looking for coats this year than in recent years.

The program is designed for kids, but FEN is also has coats available for adults too.

If you're in a need of a coat, head over to the Family Enrichment Network on Cherry Street in Johnson City.
