New Milford, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Susquehanna County residents came together this afternoon for a celebration nearly ten years in the making.
In 2004, construction began on new trails in Blue Ridge Park in New Milford.
However, when the 2006 flood destroyed the fields and buildings in the park.
The community banded together to rebuild.
"So many groups of people came together," said New Milford Council President Teri Gulick. "Whether it's using a paint brush, or licensed electrician, plumber, contractor, any thing just to help the community out."
"Without the volunteer contractors, and individuals, and businesses, that donated their money, their time, their talents. This wouldn't have happened," said Vicki Drake, vice president of the Blue Ridge Parks Association.
The community spent $250,000 for the projects. $80,000 came from the state, the other $170,000 came from private donations.
