Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Hundreds packed the parking lot of St. Cyril's Church to say goodbye to the Rev. George Sandor, who passed away Wednesday afternoon.

Parishioners, friends and family gathered at St. Cyril's to pay their last respects to the longtime community figure.

Sandor, who was 68, was the pastor at St. Cyril's and Methodius Church on Clinton Street for 18 years. He was also the pastor of the Church of the Holy Trinity.

Sandor had bi-ritual faculties, meaning he could give services to both Catholic and Byzantine Catholic churches.

His open-casket service Sunday was attended by a steady stream of people for nearly five hours making their way through St. Cyril's to mourn the community's loss.

He touched lives much further than just in the Binghamton area, as many traveled from Syracuse to honor him.

One couple met Sandor on a trip, and he strongly impacted their lives.

Sandor will be laid to rest on Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Trenton, N.J.
