Construction on Route 17 and I-81

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) If you're traveling on Route 17 W or I-81 S, New York State Department of Transportation is warning drivers to expect delays and try to find an alternate route this morning.

I-81 south will be down to one lane between exits 5 and 4 in the City of Binghamton. The lanes will be closed because of bridge work construction set to start at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

On Route 17, crews will be removing a concrete barrier on route 17 west between Exit 72 and 71 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Lanes will alternate being closed and drivers should expect delays.
