Corning bridge opens for Memorial Day

Corning, NY (WBNG Binghamton) In Chemung County, work is finally complete on a bridge that crosses the Chemung River.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that the Patterson Bridge, which carries Route 352 over the river into Corning, is ready for use.

The project began last year and cost $19.4 million.

It was funded through Governor Cuomo's NY Works initiative to improve roads throughout the state.

Crews closed the bridge for construction.

The goal was to have the bridge open by Memorial Day of 2014 and officials are pleased to announce they have met their goal.
