Cortland Sheriff's Department investigating early morning armed robbery

(WBNG Binghamton) The Cortland Sheriff’s Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 3:20 AM on Tuesday morning at Top’s Supermarket located on State Route 281 in the Town of Cortlandville.

According to a news release:

It is reported that a white male dressed in dark colored clothing, wearing a red colored bandana over his face entered the store alone and after a brief time approached the check out clerk. The suspect then threatened the clerk by displaying a knife. The suspect demanded money in which the clerk cooperated with the suspects’ demands. After the clerk gave the suspect the money (undisclosed amount) the suspect then fled through the main entrance of the store and ran to a vehicle in which was parked near by. The vehicle left in an unknown direction. The clerk and other employees who were also working at the time were not injured.

The suspect is described as a white male, slender build approximately 130 pounds, 5-foot-9 to 5-10, appeared to be in his 20’s, wearing a multicolored hoodie which appeared to be snug fit or form fitting, dirty colored baggy jeans or sweatpants and grayish converse sneakers.
