Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Davis College is working on a major expansion to their campus through a $2 million capital campaign called "Honoring Our Past, Pursuing Our Future."
The college recently acquired a second campus, the future "Davis College Chrisfield Campus."
All of the acquired buildings on the new campus were damaged in last year's flood, so there is a significant amount of work ahead, according to the president of Davis College.
On Friday, for Homecoming, alumni were able to tour the new classrooms and chapel.
"When I was here, we used to drive by this all the while, and now to see that this is going to be a part of the campus, and the possibilities of it, that is exciting," said alumnus Ron Head.
Davis College President Dino Pedrone said one of his favorite parts of the new campus is the chapel, which seats close to 600 people.
"We are delighted to have the chapel there and then of course, there are ten large classrooms in the buildings and this will be used for various programs we have with the college," said Pedrone. "And then, where the rectory is at, we will use that for housing."
Pedrone said the new campus should be finished in two years. He also said he plans on having this year's commencement at the chapel.
So far, $440,000 has been raised for the project.
