DeSisti Will Face Trial

February 8, 2013 Updated Feb 11, 2013 at 10:09 AM EST

Towanda, PA (WBNG Binghamton) A Waverly man accused of shooting and killing two relatives will stand trial.

John DeSisti was arrested in December of 2010 for the deaths of his cousin Carol Keefe and her husband David.

The two were found shot to death at their home in Athens Township in 2006.

DeSisti's attorney submitted a motion earlier this week saying the 75-year-old DeSisti was not mentally sound enough to participate in his defense.

A court-ordered evaluation found DeSisti suffers from some dementia, most likely related to Alzheimer's Disease.

After the review, the Bradford County Court determined this would not affect DeSisti's understanding of his defense.

The court also noted there's a difference between not being able to cooperate and choosing not to cooperate.

A trial date has not been set.
