Deputies find child walking alone, charge two

Town of Chenango, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Two people face charges after deputies found a 5-year-old walking alone on East Hill Road.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, a resident reported seeing the child walking alone and called 911.

The child had cuts and abrasions on his feet and according to deputies, was very withdrawn.

Deputies located the home where the child was last seen leaving. The residents, James Erik Mann, 49, and Lisa J Miller, 40, stated they last saw the child asleep on the couch around 1:00 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies said one of the residents was the aunt of the child's mother and was watching her two children overnight.

Broome County Child Protective Services responded.
The children were returned to their mother, who also responded.

Mann was charged with false personation, a class B misdemeanor, and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor. He was also charged for an outstanding forgery warrant from the city of Binghamton.

Mann was sent to the Broome County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

Miller was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor. She was released on an appearance ticket.

The child did not require medical attention.
