Deputies: tractor trailer driver flipped truck while drunk

Kirkwood, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Deputies arrested a man they said drunkenly drove a tractor trailer before it overturned.

Members of the Broome County Sheriff's Office responded around 1:44 Friday morning to the scene on Interstate 81 south near exit 1.

They found a “Dimare Fresh” tractor trailer carrying produce flipped on its side in a creek in the center median.

Deputies said the driver, Wayne Davis, 51, of Moosic, PA, was intoxicated.

Deputies charged him with driving while intoxicated of a commercial vehicle, a misdemeanor, operating a motor vehicle while using a hand-held device, an infraction, and moving from a lane unsafely.

He was released will appear in Town of Kirkwood court at a later date, according to deputies.

Crews closed the northbound lane for several hours while they removed the tractor trailer.
