Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Did you find yourself unprepared for any of the natural disasters the Southern Tier has experienced over the past five years?

Broome County Emergency Services are aiming to correct that with a preparedness fair.

Broome County Executive Debbie Preston says that people can always be more prepared for natural disasters.

September is Disaster Preparedness month and Broome County Emergency Services is doing what it can to make you more prepared.

The Red Cross suggests keeping copies of important documents such as drivers licenses and birth certificates in a secure place so that you can grab them at a moments notice.

There will be over 40 displays set up along with special presentations on staying ready.

Sometimes in all the confusion people may forget even the simplest of everyday items.

"What I still ran into in 2011 was people left their homes, one of the major things was without their medications. And we really need to get people more focused on being ready," said Debbie Preston.

Preston says the more people that make it to the event the better.

There will also be activities for kids.

The fair will be held this Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Binghamton University Events Center.
