Binghamton, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) A man was hit with a stun gun Tuesday night and taken into custody after authorities said he robbed a local liquor store at gunpoint and then fled the scene.

According to emergency dispatch reports, at approximately 9:05 p.m., a man walked into the Leroy Package Store, 64 Leroy St., flashed a gun and made off with an unknown amount of cash.

He then fled the scene -- and a short time later police -- in a car. He was stopped approximately a half mile from the scene of the crime at Main and Chestnut streets, according to dispatch reports.

Binghamton police officers told dispatchers they used a Taser to take the man into custody. His name and condition were not available late Tuesday.
