Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) More live outdoor music could soon sound in downtown Binghamton.

The DoubleTree by Hilton on Water Street has requested a noise variance from the city.

Hotel management wants to host live music on the hotel's patio.

There's a public hearing scheduled at the Binghamton City Council meeting on June 19.

The hotel's general manager said they're planning to bring in musicians three Fridays in August.

"We've been doing entertainment in the off season in our regular bistro and we had a couple of groups, a salsa group in particular, who do a great job," said Bud Nolan, general manager of the hotel. "We wanted to continue with that into the summer months and take advantage of the fact that we have a nice deck that we built out over the river."

The deck was built last summer and is 15,000 square feet.

Nolan said the deck will hold between 70-100 people.

He said the hotel will look into having more music on the deck next summer.
