Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Downtown Binghamton Farmers’ Market is looking for vendors to sell farm products at its 2014 market.
The Market is open from mid-June through the end of October on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Collier Street next to the Court House Green. On Fridays from June 13 to September 5 the Brown Bag Lunch Series will return with an array of talented local musicians playing pop, rock, country, jazz and steel drums.
The Downtown Binghamton Business Association (DBBA), which sponsors the Downtown Binghamton Farmers’ Market, formed a special committee in 2005 to improve the Downtown Market.
“What we have done over the last several years is create a more lively market atmosphere,” said Eric Denk, Chair of the Farmers’ Market Committee. “We are continuing to diversify the types of products that are available, including live plants, herbs and herbal teas as well as baked goods, and additional types of produce. For the last several years we had a vendor with free range poultry and another with free range, grass-fed livestock; both are expected to return this year. We will also continue to accept EBT cards at the market. We could use a couple of more vendors to round it out.”
“This year we already have sincere interest from many returning vendors and a few new ones,” said Denk. “Our goal over the last nine years was to increase foot traffic and we have done that.”
