Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A man is shot in Johnson City over the weekend.

Now, Johnson City Police say it was a homeowner who fired the weapon.

And the man's sister is speaking out with new details.

Police were called to a home on Virginia Avenue around 4:30 Sunday morning,

The homeowner woke to someone trying to break down his door.

After the homeowner called 911, the intruder--a former neighbor--kicked down the door, confronted the homeowner, and was shot in the arm.

Moriah Korba, a woman claiming to be the man's sister, contacted Action News Monday.

She said her brother, who she named as Josh Korba, 26, was heavily intoxicated, and mistakenly believed the house he broke into was his father's, which is located across the street.

She says her brother was taken to Wilson Hospital, and then to a hospital in Syracuse where surgery was performed to reconstruct his arm.

He is expected to recover.

The homeowner did have a permit for the gun he fired.

The investigation continues and no charges have been filed.
