Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Southern Tier teachers, students and parents join a statewide movement to improve New York's education system.

The "Educate New York Now" movement is bussing hundreds of supporters to Albany to voice their concerns over the education system in the state.

A group left the Southern Tier Wednesday morning.

Their goal is to motivate the Governor and State Legislature to increase funding to schools.

"The initiative of increased core standards and core curriculum, along with accountability through APPR and other initiatives, is right where education should be and is going and it will ultimately benefit students, but the double-edged sword is, in order to implement that, which is a mandate, there's no additional funding for that which is strapping school districts who are already, as everyone in New York State, is suffering from decreased financial aid."

Myers emphasized the public's obligation to provide the best possible education to children and hopes the state will work to make that possible.
