(WBNG Binghamton) The Empire State Games will not be coming back this summer due to lack of funding. The Empire State games were supposed to happen in the Rochester area in July but will not return until 2014. The Empire State Sports Foundation says corporate sponsors of the event have redirected a large portion of their donations to Hurricane Sandy relief. From a statement on its website, "We at the Foundation believe that this is a responsible decision of the corporate partners, and in supporting that decision we have decided to postpone the relaunch of the Summer Games until 2014." It says it will use the extra year to ensure New York experiences the best games. The games have not been held since 2010 when it was in Buffalo.
