Driver dies after head-on collision in Hancock

Hancock, NY (WBNG Binghamton) One person is dead after a head-on collision near 17 east in Hancock.

Around 1:30 a.m. Friday New York State Police received a report of a pick-up truck driving the wrong way down Route 17 east. According to state police, around 1:36 a.m. they received a call for a head-on collision at mile marker 283 just before the Hancock exit.

The truck hit a car traveling east head on. The driver of the truck died in the crash and the driver of the car was transported to Wilson Hospital with unknown injuries.

The name of the truck driver is not being released at this time.

New York State Police, Deposit Fire, and EMS crews from Broome County and Sidney responded.
