Little Meadows, PA (WBNG Binghamton) A fire marshal is investigating a garage fire that shut down part of Route 858 near Little Meadows.

When crews arrived before 4:30 p.m., they say black smoke and flames were pouring from through the roof of the Little Meadows Service Center.

They're not sure how or where the fire started, but say two people were near the garage when the fire erupted, and they called 911.

The blaze destroyed the garage and two cars inside of it.

Other cars around the building were burned.

It took crews about an hour and a half to get the fire completely put out.

"We had to get a quick water supply. We got five inch hose into the pond behind the Township Cabin and supplied the other trucks with that into our engine. We used tankers also," said First Assistant Chief Tims from the Little Meadows Volunteer Fire Department.

About eighteen volunteers from that department and dozens from Warren Township, Apalachin, and Vestal helped fight the blaze during a rain storm.

No one was injured in the blaze.
