Fire at Ithaca's Viva Taqueria restaurant

Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Ithaca Police Department and Ithaca Fire Department worked together to put out a fire at a popular restaurant Friday night.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., police responded to 101 North Aurora St.

Police were told that smoke and heat were coming from the walls of the Viva Taqueria restaurant.

Ithaca police and fire evacuated the kitchen and dining areas. They also evacuated the rest of the four story building, which consists of businesses and apartments.

The Ithaca fire department was able to extinguish the fire, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Police confirm there are no known injuries as of Saturday.
