Town of Maine, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A two-alarm fire ripped through the rear addition of a home on 46 Daugherty Road.

Six fire crews responded just after 10 a.m..

The fire was contained to a rear addition of the home.

No one was there at the time of the fire.

Crews put it out within 30 minutes.

The fire was noticed by local crews responding to a bush fire allowing them to get to the home quickly.

"What sped it up was that they were already dispatched for our first incident on the refuge fire," Maine fire chief Louis Richardson said. "That put them on the road for a good five minutes before this was dispatched for it."

Investigators say the cause of the fire was electrical.

Town of Maine Fire Department was assisted by five other crews from Glen Aubrey, Union Center, Endwell, West Corners and Newark Valley.
