Richford, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Fire investigators said they cannot determine the cause of a fire that took the life of a boy.

On Jan. 7 fire crews responded to 9266 West Creek Road around 12:30 p.m.

The Tioga County Fire Bureau did determine the fire started in the master bedroom, but the damage was too severe to find out what started it.

William and Leanna Hulse along with two daughters were able to escape, but the fire claimed the life of 4-year-old Trent Hulse.

The parents, neighbors and firefighters tried to save the boy but could not.

William suffered burns to his hands.
