Town of Webster, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Authorities say four firefighters were shot, two of them fatally, after responding to a house fire in Webster, New York early Monday morning.

Police say several people were shot at the location on Lake Road, and the suspect is still at large.

Strong Hospital confirms that two firefighters are being treated there in connection with the shooting.

At least one of those firefighters is in satisfactory condition after being shot in the lower body.

At least three houses were engulfed in flames, along with one vehicle, according to firefighters.

Police have an armored truck in the area, and SWAT is also on scene.

Mercy Flight has made multiple trips to the area.

Residents are being told to stay in their homes and away from the windows unless their house is near the homes on fire.

Firefighters were fighting the fire at the time of the shooting.

The homes were expected to burn until the scene was secure.
