First Pope from Western Hemisphere

Vatican City (WBNG Binghamton) Jorge Mario Bergoglio, 76, emerges as the 266th leader of the Roman Catholic Church. He will lead the worlds 1.2 billion Catholics as Pope Francis.

Bergoglio was born in Buenos Aires, Agentina to parents of Italian descent. A CBS News report describes him as a bridge between the Church's European roots and its future.
