Norwich, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A building known as a landmark in the city of Norwich caught fire Sunday afternoon.

The call came in just before 3 p.m.

Fire Crews responded to the scene where they say the fire started in the Kitchen of Fred's Inn in Norwich.

The Norwich Fire Department says the fire moved quickly from the kitchen up into the attic, causing extensive damage to the building.

Crews say there were people inside working at the time of the fire, however everyone was able to leave safely with no injuries.

The Chenango County Fire Investigators are on the scene working towards finding a cause.

Fred's Inn started as Rocco's Inn in 1933, and is currently owned by Armando Cirello.
