Roads closed for flash flooding (with photos)

Sherburne, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Flash flooding has shut down North Main Street (Route 12) in Sherburne.

It could be closed for up to 12 hours.

Update 11:30 a.m.
State Route 8 in New Berlin/Columbus has reopened.

On Thursday night, the mayor of the village of Sherburne requested a voluntary evacuation of the south end of the village due to flash flooding.

There were reports of three to five inches of water in the village.

A shelter was set up at Sherburne-Earlville Elementary School. Two buses were sent to Sherburne Senior Housing to provide transportation for residents.
