Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It's a weekend dedicated to the local foodie favorite--the chicken spiedie.

In Otsiningo Park Friday, the Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally kicked off a 28th year of food and fun.

While the smell of the spiedie recipies may draw in many, so do the unique hot air balloons floating above.

One of the standout balloons, America One, was inspired by the 9-11 attacks and has been flying the red, white and blue ever since.

The owner said it's the Southern Tier community that makes the Spiedie Fest his favorite stop each year.

"We love Spiedie Fest. We'll fly here with a special shape...we'll fly here with a round balloon. Spiedie Fest is probably our favorite event to go to and we go to events all around the country," said Barry DiLivero, the owner and pilot of America One.

Plenty will be going on this weekend in addition to the spiedies and balloons.

Tomorrow, an antique car show and performance by the band Karmin are among featured events.

Lonestar takes the stage Sunday, along with a spiedie cook off and more.
