Johnson City, NY (WBNG-TV Binghamton) More than 2,000 gathered in Johnson City for food, music and unique arts and crafts.

The Fourth Annual Carousel Day took place Saturday at C. Fred Johnson Park.

The event was hosted by the Johnson City Partners and featured live entertainment by The Penn Dixie Band, The Vertical Focus Steel Drum Band and The Stoutmen, an Irish folk band.

Julie Deemie, president of The Johnson City Partners, said Carousel Day is an important event for the community.

"Its a gathering place [for] neighbors, friends. You can come back home again and feel that community spirit and it's just a pride-building community event," Deemie said. "So, it's all just positive for the community."

The event featured 12 vendors who displayed arts and crafts and artisan work. It also had food and pony rides for children.

Karisma Church said she's happy the Johnson City Partners have this day for the community.

"It's nice for the kids to have something to do, and the parents," Church said. "Let them [the kids] run around a little bit."

Several local businesses, including Wegmans, Visions Dry Federal Credit Union, Bates Dry Cleaning and Coughlin & Gerhart Law Offices sponsored the event.

The celebration marks the Carousel's 90th year at the park. All proceeds from Carousel Day go toward maintaining the local history there.
