Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Auctions and food bring a community together to support a local charity.

Taste of the Best is an annual event that helps raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome.

More than 100 auction items and eight food vendors help to fund the club's operating costs.

Organizers understand how hard it can be to donate, but said they're extremely grateful for the community's support.

"It just speaks volumes about this community. This is a great community, again," said Rick Materese, executive director of Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome. "Particularly in this tough economy for these people to donate what they're doing to us, the vendors and the people who have donated the items, it just says what a great community we live in."

Materese said while grant money funds the club's programs, it's fundraising events like this that keep the Family Center's doors open.
