Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) For theatergoers, a night at a show can be a lot of fun. Board members of "Friends of the Forum" hope a special fundraising event will have the same effect.

The organization is hosting a fundraising event scheduled for May that coincides with West Side Story's opening night at the Forum Theatre.

A ticket to the fundraiser costs $99 and includes a seat to the performance, a pre-show cocktail hour and desserts afterwards with the cast.

This marks the 4th annual fundraiser for "Friends of the Forum."

Members said every year donations and contributions help the show go on.

"I'm so proud of the things we do every year," said Ron Sall, a board member. "Here you get to take kids to shows, adults, you get to see things that were on Broadway, going to be on Broadway. So why do we do this? We do this because we owe it to the community."

In recent years, donations have helped keep up the aesthetics and accessibility of the theater.

"The lobby entrance is so much more beautiful, the curtains, and even the little things like making the theater handicapped accessible," Sall said.

They're working on getting booster seats in for kids next.

"We're doing this so when we bring in Sesame Street, and these other things that are more kid-friendly, they're safe."

"Friends of the Forum" say they like to do these events because they help the theater continue to grow and improve. The event is Wednesday, May 28.
