Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) In Hickories Park, a little girl's legacy lives on, as her mom held an annual memorial for the second year in row.
More than 200 people showed up to support Allie's Angels, an organization that provides help for underprivileged children in the Southern Tier.
It was created in memory of 3-year-old Allison Elizabeth Oney, who was killed at the hands of her father in a domestic violence incident in 2012.
Allison's mother said this is a way for her to create something positive from a tragic situation.
This year's memorial is raising money to fund scholarships for three Whitney Point preschool students.
"Allison was enrolled at Whitney Point Preschool and she loved it; she wanted to go to school every day," said Melissa Kemmerer, Allison's mother.
Kemmerer said part of the money raised will also go towards playground equipment for Owego-Apalachin pre-kindergarden,
Last year, they raised $17,000. This year's goal is $15,000.
