Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Lieutenant Governor joined the Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council to look at the strategic plan and what money is available.

Governor Cuomo wants to set aside $ 200,000,000 for a new round of competition for economic development funding.

The first round of funding was announced in the aftermath of the high waters brought on by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

At that time, the Council's primary focus was helping the area bounce back from the flooding.

Members of the Council say at the time, they were proud to have gotten the amount of money they did with only 60 CFA's or Consolidated Funding Applications.

If there is another round, the Southern Tier council will be much more focused on bigger projects in the area and use the money to bring more jobs

It's also working on gathering more CFA's than before to strengthen the Strategic Plan.
