Albany, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Several New York State gun groups are taking gun control concerns to court.
The New York State Rifle and Pistol Association is leading the charge with several other organizations and suing New York state over the newly adopted SAFE Act.
The group announced the forthcoming lawsuit on its website Tuesday.
Among the claims, it states the SAFE Act violates the constitutional right to bear arms, criminalizes the possession of certain firearms and ammunition previously used by law abiding citizens, and unlawfully restricts businesses that deal with firearms.
Those suing said they aren't seeking any monetary damages. Rather, they're hoping to win an injunction and overturn the law.
